For lecturers
The KI-Klub is an initiative run by three students at Campus Gummersbach. Students work on small projects of their own, share their experience and engage with what AI can and cannot do. Participation is voluntary.
Our aim is to use AI as a tool for learning and for putting ideas into practice. Anyone who hands tasks over to AI entirely does not practise the underlying skills themselves. That is why we want to examine together how results come about, where they may be wrong and what participants have actually understood. This is our didactic aim, not a learning outcome that has already been demonstrated.
The club is not a module and not an exam preparation course. It awards no grades or credits, does not take over any assessed work and does not replace any course. The rules of each course on the use of AI remain authoritative.
The meetings combine a short exchange, work on small projects with mutual support and an optional look at results or open questions. Participants’ own ideas are welcome; for getting started, there is a pool of mini projects. There is no attendance requirement. Joining later is possible.
No paid AI subscription is needed to get to know the club. For active project work, participants bring their own device, their own paid AI subscription and an AI tool that works locally and can work with GitHub. The club does not provide university licences or computers.
The weekly meetings at TH Köln, Campus Gummersbach, take place on Wednesdays in Room 3.217 in the main building, until 27 January 2027. The club takes a break on 23 and 30 December 2026. Students can drop in without signing up.
The meetings are held in German. English-speaking students are welcome and can get help in English.
